Why I Started Sailfish Law: A New Model for Modern Litigation
After nearly a decade practicing at two of the nation’s premier litigation firms—Sidley Austin and Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan—I’ve had the privilege of working on some of the most complex, high-stakes cases in the country. These experiences taught me invaluable lessons about strategy, excellence, and what it takes to win.
They also showed me that there’s room for a different approach.
Large law firms excel at what they do. They handle massive, multi-jurisdictional cases with teams of brilliant lawyers who can tackle every angle of complex litigation. For many clients and cases, this comprehensive approach is exactly what’s needed.
But not every case requires a team of 6-10+ lawyers. Not every client needs—or can afford—the infrastructure that comes with BigLaw representation. And that’s where Sailfish Law comes in.
I didn’t found Sailfish Law to replace BigLaw or the traditional law firm. I created it as an alternative for clients who need exceptional legal representation but face different constraints: mid-market companies dealing with bet-the-company litigation who need top-tier expertise without enterprise-level fees, startups and growth companies facing pre-litigation disputes who need strategic counsel before issues escalate, businesses looking for focused representation on specific matters without engaging a full litigation team, and companies who value the highest level of attention in every aspect of their case.
What makes Sailfish Law different is how we’ve embraced cutting-edge AI and legal technology to handle tasks that traditionally required multiple lawyers. Some lawyers worry that AI might replace them. I see it differently. AI handles the repetitive tasks that used to require armies of junior associates, freeing me to focus on what really matters: strategy, judgment, and winning your case. This isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about working smarter.
By combining my BigLaw experience with advanced technology, we can review documents with AI-enhanced precision in a fraction of the time, conduct research using tools that identify patterns and connections human review might miss, maintain consistency across all work product without multiple layers of review, and provide the highest level of attention to every aspect of your case.
The result? You get the strategic thinking and litigation expertise of BigLaw, enhanced by technology that multiplies efficiency, all at a cost structure that makes sense for your business. Sailfish Law offers the strategic expertise you need, delivered in a way that makes sense for your business.
